napa wine and dine
Awhile back, guzogal surprised guzoguy with a birthday trip (we have a bit of a birthday trip tradition brewing - for e.g. see Montreal - hopefully we can keep it up). The place this time? Napa Valley. The guzos had been once before, but just for a day trip. This was to be a relaxing three night splurge of fine eating, wine tasting, and relaxing - and it was just that.

haiti
As I imagine is the case for many of you, the stories and images of the situation in Haiti continue to fill my mind. The devastation is heartbreaking, yet so hard to fathom. The unfairness and particular cruelty of a disaster striking, once again, people who are least equipped to handle it.

Raring to go!
So it’s a new year, and I’ve made a few resolutions. One of them is to do a better job of keeping up with this site (I know, it would be almost impossible to do worse). Another is not to start every post (or even every other post) with an apology for not writing more. I admit it. Life this past year really got the best of the guzos. As new parents and new homeowners, we were caught off-guard and were not able to balance our jobs, our lives, our family, our hobbies and our blogs as well as we had hoped. But we’re learning.

really??
Like most of you (well, at least some of you), I found myself following quite intently this weekend’s news story regarding an attempted attack aboard an airline headed from Lagos to Detroit via Amsterdam. Hey - the story may not be about an exotic vacation destination, but anything that is going to affect my future travel plans is fair game for this site.

So while the guzos don’t have a lot of time for tv, guzoguy has been watching some of ken burns’ pbs miniseries this week on the u.s. national parks. So just a quick shout out to one of our favorites: Crater Lake National Park.
