guzo: amharic for journey or travel

We like to think of life as a journey. And we’re hoping to experience as much of the world as we can.

We envisioned guzo:world as our forum for sharing travel experiences, ideas, thoughts, and opinions. Now, we’re not claiming to be travel experts; we’re just a guy and a gal who love to hit the road and experience new places, and, well, we never get tired of talking about (or writing about, as the case may be) our journeys.

Our travels have taken us to 6 continents and 42 countries so far (we like to think it’s a good start!). City, country, island, desert - we’re up for it. We mostly just like to meet new people, learn about different cultures, and see and try new things. We’ll be writing about some of the spots we’ve been to, as well as some we’d like to go to. Oh, and if you have any suggestions, let us know. We’d be happy to respond to your questions and suggestions (see our “challenge” form too). Check back now and again - maybe we can help inspire your next trip!

Some things you should know:

• We tend to be partial towards places that are a bit off the beaten path and prefer smaller, boutique hotels to big resorts, but we don’t exactly want to be roughing it most of the time. This is definitely reflected in our hotel picks.
• We’ve tried to use an icon system to highlight hotel and location features we especially liked (e.g. a fantastic spa, a great restaurant, excellent shopping…) for easy review and comparison. But we can’t promise that we won’t miss something.
• We’re not perfect. Our posts are based upon our experiences and our memories. You might not share our opinions. Things might change. We try to provide accurate and up-to-date information, but we can’t guarantee it. We encourage you to research hotels and other service providers before booking your travel.
